Some recent black-and-white portraits I did of model Isabella Hoag. Not only is she stunning, but I love her raw energy. Soon as she walked through the door I knew it would be an awesome shoot. It helps when you connect with the people you photograph. Isabella put me in the mind of a young Angelina Jolie in terms of attitude; so full of fire and intensity. She was such an absolute pleasure to shoot with.
These were taken on my Nikon D850 with the Nikkor 85mm f/1.4D, my most frequently used lens for portraits. Speaking of “portraits”, it can be challenging to categorize photographs sometimes. While these have a beauty photography slant, one could call them “Black and white beauty photographs'“. I like to consider them portraits since the focus isn’t on hair or makeup, but more on the appearance and expressions of the model herself.
I guess it could also be referred to a “editorial beauty” but I’m calling them portraits. Sue me. ;-)
