100 FACES: STreet portraits by jamiya Wilson
100 Faces is a black-and-white portrait photography project featuring the interesting and unique denizens of New York City as I came across them in my daily life from 2017 through 2018. The focus of the project is to get viewers to pause for an instant and consider the life of the person photographed. Not just a stranger in the crowd, they too, are a person like you with hopes, dreams, and probably have lived a life you’d never believe.
Tattered Women, is a fine art project that draws parallels between the treatment of women in the fashion industry, namely models, and remnants of fashion advertising that has been torn, defaced, or altered in some way either by the elements of man. Sex, racism, exploitation, and isolation are just some of the issues depicted.
